Health and Fitness Goals For 2017

So guys, it’s 24 days into January and my cupboards are now devoid of all Christmas treats and nibbles! One final sweep of the house confirms it, not a hidden chocolate or stashed sweet to be found anywhere. I officially have no more excuses… it’s time to saddle up the health horse and get fit.

If you are a regular to my blog, then you’ll know I’m not one for fad diets or ‘clean eating’, a term I deeply detest. I’ve always been an advocate for enjoying all types of food in moderation. However, it is easy to get carried away, especially if you have a packed schedule.

At the latter end of the year, I lost my way a touch. I ended up indulging in far too many take-aways for lunch and dinner. I have missed cooking properly and my blogging, but my new job (which I love) has taken me away from my old weekly routine. However, I am determined to make it work. I’m a firm believer in making time for the things you love.

Currently, I’m feeling both confident and excited about my health goals for 2017. With that said, I’m delighted to announce that I will be taking part in Froothie UK’s  Jump Start 2017, during which I will be producing recipes, tips, reviews and possibly a giveaway in the future.

To kick things off, I’m sharing with you what my health and fitness goals are for the year and some mini goals for the month. I hope this goes some way to inspiring your own jump back into a healthy regime. Personally, I believe in taking big goals and breaking them down into small achievable goals. This makes the whole journey seem less daunting and hopefully reduces the inclination to give up. I will keep you up to date on my progress and share next month’s plan too.

Health and Fitness Goals For 2017

1 Meal plan (yearly)

I love writing lists and being organised, so I figured that doing proper meal planning would be the easiest habit to get back into. I’m going to incorporate more healthy meals than I did previously. Plus, I like doing theme days to provide some focus for my efforts and keep meals interesting. It’s a win-win situation, saving money and becoming healthier. I’ve written about it before  6 simple ways to reduce food waste.

2. Gym (yearly)

I’m going to the gym! Yes!! For the first time ever, I’ve plucked up the courage to go and see what all the fuss is about. I’m super excited to try something new and out of my comfort zone. It sounds cliche to head to the gym come January but this is a first for me, something new and different to try! As I like to take baby steps, I’m starting a spin class and pilates! Of course, you don’t have to go to a gym, just getting out and about walking is good exercise too.

3. Set myself a new health/fitness challenge every month (monthly)

To keep me on my toes and maintain my interest, I’m going to set myself a little challenge every month. During the month of January, my challenge has been to walk more. This is something my little dog has embraced! I appreciate that it’s hard to motivate yourself to go out walking after a days work, especially when the weather is cold/dark, but boy is it good to come home afterwards to be greeted by a lovely bowl of soup like my Roasted Sweet Potato and Vegetable Soup.

4. Froothie (yearly)

I’ve got my tried and tested Froothie G2.1 blender, which is one mean silver machine for making: smoothies; soups, nut butters; nut milks; sauces…the list goes on. I plan to share even more recipes than last year using it. I’ll also be sharing my thoughts on the Optimum Pressure and Slow Cooker (watch this space).

To keep up with the Jump Start 2017 campaign and for inspiration from myself and my fellow food bloggers, follow @froothieuk and hashtag #jumpstart17 on Instagram and Twitter, plus the Froothie UK Facebook page .

Here are some Health and Fitness Goals For 2017 to inspire you to create and stick to your own goals for the year.- includes recipes and tips.

I am a Froothie Ambassador. This means that From Plate to Pen will have plenty of posts showing some of the things I make in the silver machine. It also means that if you buy an Optimum G2.1 using this link, it won’t cost you any more, but I will get a small commission. If you order in January please write in the comments section of your order ‘3415 Free Ambassador Delivery’ the delivery cost will be credited back to your card.

Great plan! How are you getting on with it? I have made some similar goals in 2017. I plan to eat a little healhier and exercise more – though I find running fits in so much better into my life than going to the gym! Love the look of that smoothie – I am definitely planning to include more of them in 2017! Eb x

I love your organisation – what a great piece of stationery.

We still have the last bits of chocolate hanging around – really need to get it all eaten!

Some great goals there, I’m also a list maker, unfortunately I’m better at making lists than actually doing what’s on them, so have set myself a few achievable goals this year. Froothie kitchen kit definitely helps make it easy to stay on track. Looking forward to seeing your recipes with the Optimum Pressure and Slow Cooker

I love notebooks and writing lists but I’ve not been so organised for a while. First the craziness of December then my leg injury. I really must get organised again and start making my daily smoothies again too. You have inspired me to get going again!

Oh yay, great goals. I started off with good intention, but my new ‘fit bit’ thingie stopped working after a few days and I quickly lost momentum. You’ve inspired me to try harder!

Moderation is the key and meal prepping is a must. I love all kinds of food so it’s hard to sometimes stay on track and not overindulge, but if I’ve got a clear plan ahead of me, it always seems a little easier. Get ideas and tips!

I’m the same as you; I don’t believe in fads, I’ll have anything and everything, just not everyday! It feels like the most sensible way to do things!! Loved reading through your goals; I’m trying to stay on the wagon right now as I felt like I went a little off course over Christmas too. I also have a wedding dress to fit into, so I really have to curb the sweets!!

Oh congrats on your up and coming wedding! Hope it all goes well πŸ™‚ It’s hard to stay on track but I find if you break it down, it’s so much easier!
