Last month Neil and I took a trip down to Hillstown Farm Shop for a bite to eat and to see what foodie goodies they had on offer. Their meat selection was impressive, but it was smaller condiments I was looking for this time. Abernethy Butter has been on my wish list for a long time, so I was pleased to be able to buy it here. It is the only traditionally churned handmade butter in Northern Ireland and enjoys great popularity due to the beautiful flavour and creamy texture it possesses. I’m not surprised to find it is loved by top chefs Marcus Wareing and Heston Blumenthal.  Available across Ireland and in the UK – from farm shops to Fortnum & Mason. Prices start from £1.50. To coincide with the Rio Olympics this year Encona have released a Limited Edition Brazilian BBQ Sauce. Sweet and tangy, blended with tomatoes and some of my favourite spices – smoked paprika and cayenne pepper. It’s pitched as the perfect marinade and I would agree this is where it shines. Although it suggests you can use it as a dipping sauce, I would avoid that and recommend Encona’s Smokey Jalapeno sauce for dipping instead. I made a marinade using the Brazilian BBQ sauce along with a few other ingredients for slow cooked beef brisket, with excellent results. All the family were very impressed with the kick of heat that the Encona sauce provided. Available in most UK supermarkets and online. Priced at £1.50 for 142ml. Twitter @EnconaOfficial

Coconut Oil has been all the rage for a while now in both the beauty and the food world. I am no stranger to the stuff, I’ve used it in baking like in this Sweet Potato and Coconut Cake. Being already a fan of Vita Coco’s Coconut water – I #swearbyit on its own and in smoothies, I was delighted to be sent Vita Coco’s cold pressed and organic coconut oil. I baked muffins using the oil and am keen to use it more in cooking over the next few months, so don’t be surprised to see it popping up in my recipes.  You can follow #swearbyit for tips and recipes. Available in most UK supermarkets, online and in Boots. Priced at £5.99 for 250ml. Twitter @vitacocoNI

I discovered Tea Huggers caffeine-free herbal tea Good Night last year and I adore it for helping to relax in the evening just before bed. It has a wonderful blend of lavender, fruity pieces (orange/apple/rosehip peel plus elderberries) and lemon balm and rooibos. This has a sweet and pleasant taste. You can smell all those fruity flavours and the teabag itself is just so pretty! Priced at £4.85 for packet of 15 teabags. Twitter @TeaHuggers

My favourite food item from April is this coconut milk powder from The Coconut Company. More economical than its tinned cousin and longer lasting. It is so simple to make – just mix 1-2 tablespoons with warm/hot water to create a rich cream or milk with no powder residue. Produced from freshly squeezed coconut milk, it contains 65% coconut oil and is vegan friendly. Thus far I have added mine to a thai curry and smoothies. Lovely aroma – will purchase more in the future. Priced at £4.49 for 250g re-sealable pouch. Twitter @theCocoCompany

The most popular post on the blog for April is my review of the new Froothie Optimum G2.1 high powder blender and recipe for homemade cashew milk. I’m not surprised by this, because homemade cashew milk is incredible and the Froothie Optimum is by far the best blender I’ve ever owned. If you are in the market for a new one, I highly recommend it.

What foodie products have you been trying out lately?

Thank you to Encona, Vita Coco and The Coconut Company for the sending me the items. I am proud to be a brand ambassador for Froothie All my opinions are my own.

Intrigued by the Coconut Milk powder. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for that as can imagine it would be a really useful addition to my pantry.

I love my Froothie blender. I’ve got the older 9400 and I love its retro style. I use it every single day!

Honestly, I can’t get enough of ‘Good night’. I’m not the best sleeper and it helps me relax in the evenings. 🙂

Encona jalapeño sauce sounds very interesting! I have used vita coco coconut oil, it’s amazing for skin, hair and in cooking too.
