Hey You, Foodie? Get To Know Me + Discover More Food Bloggers

Life | August 17, 2015 | By

If you are a food blogger and/or a reader and a fan of twitter, then you may know about the #fdbloggers hashtag. It’s a great way to discover new food blogs or keep up to date with the latest chat happenings.

In a world filled with fashion bloggers, beauty bloggers and lifestyle bloggers Loriley Sessions saw a gap in the market for us foodies. Where are they all? Why don’t we have a place where our voices could be heard? With that in mind, she created the @fdbloggers account along with the #fdbloggers hashtag. It didn’t take long for this bustling community to grow and I for one was so happy to have discovered it.

When I first started blogging I felt rather alone, people talked of blogging being a great way to meet like-minded people but I was struggling to find anyone. It was only when I discovered The #fdbloggers hashtag that everything started to change. Through it, not only was I able to share my posts out to a larger audience, but I also became friends with some fabulous food bloggers. I am thankful to Loriley as I know for a fact I would not have found these brilliant creative bloggers.

Recently Loriley posted on her blog #fdbloggers: Get to Know. A fun post to share a little bit more about yourself. The hashtag is #fdbloggersGTK, so if  like me you love being nosey about other peoples’ lives and want to discover new food blogs, follow the hashtag!

Name:

 Sarah

 Blog:

 www.fromplatetopen.com (formerly Nosebag N.I).

What was your reason for starting a blog?

I had been a fan of reading blogs for many years and decided it was time I started one myself. It was a natural progression, really – from reader to writer. I wanted to find like-minded people that I could share my interests and tips with.

What’s the dish you’re most proud of?

This is a tough one. Really tough! But my latest favourite is my Pork and Orange Casserole, as it’s just delicious, plain and simple!

What one kitchen utensil could you not live without?

A vegetable peeler comes straight to mind. I seem to spend my life peeling vegetables and I wouldn’t fancy doing that with a knife as I’m a pretty impatient person.

You’re stranded on a desert island. What three ingredients do you take with you?

 Eggs, avocados and almond butter.

Who do you take inspiration from?

First I’m inspired my Dad who is just brilliant in the kitchen. We always watch food programmes together and have little chats about food. Second is food bloggers, reading the stories behind their recipes and eateries they have visited. Looking at their photography, whether it’s grainy shots in a restaurant or food gawker approved quality, I adore looking at the styling and the individuality of pictures.

Your favourite social platform?

It’s a tie between Twitter and Facebook. I’ve encountered some wonderfully talented food bloggers through these platforms more than any other.

Biggest disaster in the kitchen?

Oh gosh! From nearly setting the house on fire to destroying the microwave, there have been many over the years. I recently blogged about a cake disaster if anyone is interested to learn more about that experience.

Favourite spot for coffee?

Jazzberry in Bangor, Co. Down.

Favourite food photo you’ve taken?

This shot for my Chocolate and Orange cupcakes with Fennel Seeds, which made it onto foodgawker.

What would you say was your most successful blog post and why?

My most popular post is Pre-workout Banana and Strawberry Smoothie, I guess more people are aware of staying fit and healthy.

Now nominate three food bloggers you’d like to get to know more.

I nominate everyone! I want to get to know more of you all.

Remember to follow the #fdbloggers and #fdbloggersGTK to discover new food blogs.

Great answers, Sarah! That photo of the cupcakes is gorgeous! Also, the salad I’ve got for lunch suddenly looks a bit disappointing now I’ve locked eye with your Pork and Orange Casserole! Loriley x

Thanks Loriley. You’ve got to try the pork sometime, although I’m sure your salad was lovely. hehe.

This is a great idea, there was definitely a gap for food bloggers on Instagram. It’s lovely to get to know you a bit better too!
