Exciting Spring events in Belfast 2015
There are a few up and coming events that caught my eye recently that I’m looking forward to. Food, drink, carnivals and there is one sneaky one that isn’t in Belfast but deserves a mention!
Producing award-winning artisan food since 2012, the Good Food & Wine Company are opening their flagship store in Queens Parade, Belfast. I have visited their shop in Victoria Square for tea, which I very much enjoyed, so I’m particularly excited about their big move. I’ve been watching the building process and it looks really good (love the checkered floor). It’s in a great location too – off the main streets but plenty of passing footfall.
In the lead up to St Patrick’s Day, St George’s will be celebrating the only way it can – plenty of fine food and entertainment! Expect to be dining on Irish stew and to be entertained by Irish dancers, as well as plenty of Children’s activities.
The St Patrick’s Day parade kicks off at 12 noon from City Hall and then there’s a concert taking place at Custom house from 1pm – 3pm.
If you’re looking for inspiration for your Spring/Summer wardrobe or simply just want to ogle over all the designer pieces then you’ll not want to miss fashion week.
Between 11am – 17:00pm The Dock Market will have 20 stalls selling everything from award winning burgers, cupcakes to art and fashion!
Every Thursday from 16th April comes a farmers and artisan market in Bank Square, Belfast. Local produce from food to crafts will be on display. I love events that promote local producers so I’m excited to check this out! It’s close to the main shopping areas, so should be a breeze to get to.
I adore the Frock around the Clock events and attend them as often as I can. There is always a nice atmosphere and great stalls of craft, vintage home items, jewellery and a range of local food. The Spring into Summer Vintage and Handmade Fair is being held in Bangor. Ok, I know it’s not in Belfast, but it’s not that far outside. And anyway their events normally take place in Belfast. In fact, if you are planning on getting married soon they are hosting a Vintage and Handmade Wedding Fair at the Malone House on 19th May! As I’m not getting married, I’m interested in the Bangor event…it didn’t feel right to exclude it as I love their events so much! P.S. I blogged about their summer fair last year.
If you are interested in discovering new beers from near and afar, then take the opportunity to sample quality beers at the ABV beer festival. The venue is at the Titanic drawing offices. Tickets are only £12.
Ships from across the world will be lowering their anchors in the waters of Belfast. 800.000 people visited the event when it last came to Belfast in 2009. You can watch their youtube clip here. Ships ahoy!
