Top 3: It’s Christmas Pouty Time!

Things I Like | December 18, 2014 | By

The party season is well under way and whilst trips to the shops for a suitable party frock have been a struggle (I can never decide what to wear) when it comes to lipstick, I don’t have the same dilemma. At Christmas I’m all about that red lipstick. It’s a festive colour and makes you feel like a 1950s glam kitten. It can make you go from drab to fab in seconds.  Don’t have time for fancy eye makeup and contouring tricks? No problem, red lipstick does all the talking.

Here are three of my favourite reds I’m loving this Christmas.

bourois, nars, kate moss rimmel

nars marjella, bourjios hot pepper, kate moss rimmel
1. Bourjois Rouge Velvet Hot Pepper
This is a hot red colour with an orangey base tone. A perfect choice if you’re planning on partying all night (or for a smudge-free smooch under the mistletoe) as this baby is long lasting. For a softer look you can dab it on with your fingertips but c’mon it’s Christmas! Be brave! Apply direct from the applicator for a bold look.
2.Rimmel London by Kate Moss Lasting Finish 01
I have a few Kate Moss lipsticks so I had to add a red to my collection. It feels creamy on the lips. Supposedly lasts up to 8 hours but I normally need to reapply it throughout the night. If you’re looking for a dupe for MAC’s Russian Red, I think this is a good one to choose.
3. Nars Satin Lip Pencil Majella
This lives up to its name. It feels smooth like ‘satin’ on the lips and not drying at all like a lot of lip pencils. It has good staying power, too. I wear it on its own as it has a nice sheen finish. This is my overall favourite, as it’s just a perfect red for me!
PS: Seeing as it’s Christmas, I’ve got to mention that Charlotte Trilby’s Red Carpet Red is on my wishlist. I can only hope Santa’s listening!

What’s your favourite red lipsticks?
