The £1 Shampoo and Conditioner That I Really Rather Like

My hair is the bane of my life. It’s dry, it’s frizzy, it’s wild!! Everyday I wage war against the frizz, with brush in one hand, hairspray in the other….welcome to the jungle, people! Over the years I’ve tried and tested quite a few products and in the process spent more money than I’ve ever wanted to. Then I came across the Alberto Balsam range. £1 for 400ml shampoo and conditioner which claims it uses most of the same ingredients you’ll find in higher priced brands. Chalk up one victory in the ongoing war!

As I get my hair coloured every 10-12 weeks, I opted for the Blueberry variety which is specially formulated for coloured and damaged hair. It contains blueberry & ginseng extracts to help nourish your hair and add shine. I’ve been using both the shampoo and conditioner for a couple of weeks now and I find it leaves my hair soft and easy to manage. But it’s still quite dry and I don’t honestly notice any extra shine. However, it has wonderfully maintained the vibrant colour of my hair. These two have to be among the nicest smelling products, although the scent is faint once on my hair and pretty non-existent after I’ve added my styling products. The shampoo is gel-like and lathers quickly, plus is easy to rinse out. The consistency of the conditioner is thin and can easily slip through your fingers and annoyingly escape down the plughole. It’s not the most attractive of packaging but the clear bottle does mean you can see how much product you have left, so what more would you want?

Considering the price, this is a rather good purchase. It does the job of cleaning my hair and keeping the colour strong. The shampoo I would certainly get again, but being that my hair is so dry, I think I’d need to invest in a better conditioner.
Have you tried any products from the Alberto Balsam range?
